Introduction

Staying current with recent publications of new music, editions, and anthologies and the existing body of repertoire is a time-consuming process. Findpianoworks.com aims to centralize this large body of information in a searchable online database. In addition to searching for repertoire, you may search the contents of anthologies and cross-reference findings among multiple composers and publishers. We hope that this website will expedite your search process, saving you time and energy.

History

The database now available through this website was originally a personal project by the authors that organized information on piano teaching literature. The goal was to make our existing notes easily searchable and accessible, but the process itself proved enlightening and the project continued to grow. As we developed this cataloging system, we systematically considered the selection process teachers follow when choosing new music for their students and built the structure of the database accordingly. The result of these painstaking efforts is findpianoworks.com. Now visitors can search through a large amount of literature, sorting by specific criteria to find just the right piece.

The Current Catalog

The current catalog includes three series of leveled anthologies: Masterwork Classics edited by Jane Magrath, the Kjos Repertoire series, edited by Keith Snell, and the Celebration Series, by Frederick Harris. These anthologies were selected since they include a variety of styles and techniques within the standard teaching repertoire. The catalog is continually growing. The authors hope to eventually include all popular anthologies and stay current with new releases.
